The President of the Public Benefit Enterprise of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, Dr. Dimitra Akritidou, in the very first days of her term, submitted a proposal to the State Scholarship Foundation (I.K.Y.), which is the implementing body of the Erasmus Programs.
Specifically, the proposal concerned a KA1 Action entitled "Innovative Care Methods: The Evolution of Technology for the Care of People with Disabilities».
The program was approved with a high score and so for the first time in KEDITH. but also more widely in the Municipality of Thessaloniki, employees had the opportunity to be trained abroad with full funding from the Erasmus Program.
This educational program was implemented from January 15 to 23 in Limassol, Cyprus, hosted by ERCI (Educational, Research & Consultancy Institute LTD).
A total of twelve employees of KEDITH, from all its structures, were trained.
The beneficiaries of the program visited many different structures with the common goal and vision of protecting and caring for children with special physical and mental needs as well as promoting and solving the problems faced by children with disabilities and their families.
All participants were informed in each structure by the Presidents and their Managers about the incidents they are watching as well as their daily schedule.
Their programs included Special Education, Creative Activities, Music, Dance, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, Hydrotherapy, Equine Therapy, Computer Learning, Robotics and Programming, Visual Psychology, Gardening.
The trainees actively participated in all the planned activities, exchanging positions, opinions, know-how and practices.
The participants had the opportunity of technical tours of the institutions "Theotokos", "Agios Stefanos", "The House of Mario", the "Ekaterini Foundation" as well as the Special School in Larnaca. While at the same time they also attended two seminars, the first entitled "BENEFIT POLICY, PROGRAMS AND FUNDING IN CYPRUS" and the second regarding the historical, social and cultural environment of the host country.
The European Program attended by the beneficiaries offered rich experiences and valuable knowledge. The implementation of the project was crowned with complete success and the employees have already started implementing the new practices and knowledge they gained from their trip to the structures of K.E.DI.TH..
